SPRINT Real Time Review (RTR) in Afghanistan under Emergency COVID19 program

The SPRINT Initiative, Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Program in Humanitarian Settings, a program funded by the Australian government and hosted by the International Planned Parenthood (IPPF), was designed to address gaps in the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) implementation identified in a global evaluation undertaken by the Inter-Agency Working Group (IAWG) on Reproductive Health. The overall goal of the SPRINT project is to improve the health outcomes of crisis-affected populations by reducing preventable sexual and reproductive health morbidity and mortality. The program’s purpose is to increase timely access for crisis-affected populations to life-saving sexual and reproductive health services as outlined in the MISP.

The SPRINT project funded intervention in Afghanistan through Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) from April 2020 to December 2020 with additional one month extension till January 2021 for ‘Continuing SRHR care during the Coronavirus pandemic’ with the hope to extend the community midwifery program with additional funding into 2021. The Real Time Review (RTR) exercise was undertaken to better understand the project impact on the community SRH needs, assess the program and make recommendations to improve performance, which would be useful during the extension phase of the program.
